Round 1: Singles
The tournament will kick off with a singles round. In this round, each player on a team will be assigned to play one category, which will include a set of 3 songs.
Categories will be determined by the participating teams via a selection round the day of the event. The total number of categories to be selected is 3-4. All teams will play the same categories. After categories are selected, players will be given a deliberation period to determine which player(s) will represent each category. Each team member will be limited to playing one category, so choose wisely! You will not know which songs will be drawn until the category is called. There will be Wild and Hard/Hard+ options for each category (as appropriate). Level ranges, song lists, and seeding can be viewed here.
Categories:
- Gimmicks (Wild): 19-22
- Rhythms (Wild): 20-22
- Sightreads (Wild)*: 19-23
- Soflan (Wild): 19-22
- Stamina (Wild): 20-22
- Timing (Wild): 19-22
- Tech (Wild): 19-22
- Wild 19s
- Gimmicks (Hard): 14-17
- Sightreads (Hard)*: 14-18
- Soflan (Hard): 14-17
- Timing (Hard): 14-17
- Hard/Hard+ 14s
*Sightreads will consist of one randomly selected unplayed chart from each player playing in the category. If a player has played all Wild or Hard charts in the range, they CANNOT represent their team for this category.
Once a mode is called, players will come to the card draw station, where they will receive their card draw for that category. A set of (3 + player count in category) cards will be drawn. In reverse seed order, every player participating in that category will veto one chart until 3 charts remain, which will form the set.
Players will select their preferred pad side in descending seed order (ie highest seed chooses first). Then, the highest seeded player of the selected set will go first. Before attempting their set, players will get one warm up song, to be mutually agreed upon. If the players cannot reach an agreement, their warm up song will be Big Boss.
Players will earn points for their placements on songs, determined by highest overall score, PLUS additional points for earning any achievements below:
- Upscores (does NOT need to be a pass and includes first plays) – .25 points
- Hex – .5 points
- APC – .5 point
- Score within 100 points of the song winner – .5 points
Note that the points for all achievements stack. For example, if a player gets an upscore, a hex, and scores within 100 points of the song winner, she will earn 1.25 extra points for her team. If a player APCs a chart she has previously APCd, she would receive 1 extra point.
Note that depending on entrant numbers, two players from a single team may be assigned to play the same category. In that case, the average of those two players points totals will be added to the total team score.
ALL skill levels are welcome! We will adjust the categories and teams based on the entrant pool.
Round 1 (Singles) Example:
Team Sirens:
- Charlene
- Bella Ciao
- Kinky Boots
- Villain
Team Sirens consists of 4 players, with Charlene as the top seed. During the category selection round, it was determined Gimmicks W19-22, Stamina W20-22, Timing W19-22, and Soflan H14-17 would be played.
She must decide who on her team should play which categories. After a few minutes of deliberation, the team decides the following:
Charlene:
- Gimmicks W19-22
Bella Ciao:
- Soflan H14-17
Kinky Boots:
- Timing W19-22
Villain:
- Stamina W20-22
First up is Soflan H13-16, and 7 songs are drawn. The results of the card draw are as follows:
Sirens vetoes Nightmare.
Unity vetoes Tick Tock.
Galactical vetoes Dreaming.
Bananas vetoes The Saint Goes Marching.
The remaining 3 songs will be played.
Pad selection will then occur in descending seed order. Players will each get a warmup song before playing their set. The highest seeded player of the selected set will play first.
Song Scoring Example:
| Team | Song Score | Rank | Song Points | Bonus Achievements | Bonus Points | Team Points Gained (For Total Score) |
| Sirens | 98256 | 3 | 2 | – | 0 | 2 |
| Unity | 100000 | 1 | 4 | hex, APC | 1 | 5 |
| Galactical | 99926 | 2 | 3 | hex, upscore, within 100 pts of 1st | 1.25 | 4.25 |
| Bananas | 98210 | 4 | 1 | upscore | .25 | 1.25 |
Points for songs across all songs of all sets will be totaled to determine each team’s Round 1 score. Then, Round 2 will begin.
Round 2: Team(work)
For the 2nd part of the tournament, each team will play 3 total Team mode charts. Players are allowed a half song for warmup/finding their settings. Teams will assign a pair of players to each chart after seeing the card draw. Difficulty ranges of charts are 12-15, 16-19, and 20-22. One chart from each level range will be randomly drawn and played. In the case of 4 person teams, teams may mix and match/assign players as they wish, but each player must play at least 1 chart. In the case of 3 person teams, each player will play exactly twice – once with each other team member.
Players will receive points for highest overall score, PLUS additional points for earning any achievements below:
- No misses – .25 points
- Quad – .5 points
- Quint – .5 points
- Score within 500 points of the song winner – .5 points
Like the Singles round, achievement points are stackable.
Once Round 2 is complete, the total number of points across all rounds and categories will be added up and weighted. Round 1 is worth 60% of the final score and Round 2 is worth 40%. The team with the highest number of points will be declared the winners. There will additionally be an award for the individual who scored the most points for their team (MVP).
Weighting:
Round 1 (Singles) – 60% of final score
Round 2 (Teamwork) – 40% of final score
