For the first stages of the event, players will be seeded into pools consisting of 16-players within two 8-player pods (A and B). The first round of this pool will consist of a Gauntlet format with 3-songs randomly drawn from the levels 7-9 difficulty range. For Pools 4 and above this range will change from levels 8-10.
The weights will be the following:
- 7 – 25%
- 8 – 40%
- 9 – 35%
Pools 4+
- 8 – 35%
- 9 – 40%
- 10 – 25%
Each player will play the 3-song set in the drawn order. Placement will be determined by Total EX across all songs. Top 8 from the Gauntlet will be placed into a Double Elimination Bracket where placements 1-4 are on Winners’ Bracket side and placements 5-8 on Losers’ Bracket side.
All matches are Best 2 out of 3. No “Grand Finals” match will be played for the bracket, and each of the respective players at the end of the Winners’ and Losers’ bracket sides will progress to the next wave of Pools until the final set of Pools.
On the final wave of Pools, there will be a 5-song card draw. All players will play the set and be ranked by Total EX from all songs combined. Placements 1-4 will be placed into the Winners’ Bracket of Top 8. Placements 4-8 will be placed into Losers’ Bracket of Top 8.
Pool Format Tiebreakers
At the end of each pool Gauntlet, if there are two or more players who have the same overall EX, two more songs will be drawn at the 7-9 range. All players with the same EX score will play both songs and be ranked by Total EX. This will repeat until no more tiebreaks are needed.
Top 8 Double Elimination Bracket
The Top 8 block rating difficulty will range from level ratings 8 – 10.
Matches within the Top 8 Double Elimination Bracket will consist of 5-card song draws where the winner is “Best of 3.”
Losers’ Finals, Winners’ Finals, and Grand Finals will all consist of 7-card song draws where the winner is “Best of 5.”
If during the Grand Finals the winner of the first set is the player from the Losers’ bracket, they will cause a “bracket reset” by knocking the player from Winners’ side into the Losers’ bracket. A second set will then be played to determine the Grand Champion.
Difficulties for Top 8 will be weighted with the following percentages:
- 8 – 30%
- 9 – 40%
- 10 – 30%
Top 8 Tiebreakers
In the event of any ties, once the final song of the drawn set has been played if neither player has a song win to loss count, “2 of 3”, a single song will be drawn and played. The winner will be determined by the highest EX score. This will repeat until there are no additional ties.
Match Structure
Warm ups
Players are allowed one warmup song on the tournament setup prior to the start of their first match of their pool/side of bracket. (One total, not one per round or match)
Player Choice Selection for Card Draw
There will be NO Pocket Picks for DDR Extreme Pro at Storm 2026.
The higher seed will have first choice between song protect order, pad preference, or song veto order. After the higher seed has made their pick, the lower seed may decide between the remaining two options. The higher seed will decide the last remaining option.
Example:
Player 1 is Higher seed of Players 1 and 2
- Player 1 chooses Protect Order (to protect second)
- Player 2 chooses Veto Order (to veto second)
- Player 1 chooses Pad side (p1 side)
- The card draw is as follows:
- The Reflex, L’amour et la liberté, Kiss Me All Night Long, SENORITA (speedy mix), Burning Heat!
- Player 2 protects The Reflex
- The Reflex becomes the first song in the set
- Player 1 protects SENORITA (speedy mix)
- SENORITA (speedy mix) becomes the second song in the set
- Player 1 vetoes Burning Heat!
- Player 2 vetoes Kiss Me All Night Long
- Player 1 plays on p1 pad, Player 2 plays on p2 pad
- The set is The Reflex, SENORITA (speedy mix), and L’amour et la liberté
Modifiers
- Players may use any combination of modifiers as long as the number of steps and freeze arrows are not modified (i.e., Total EX score is changed).
- Both players must agree to use Solo.
Pad Errors / Recalculations
Pad error discrepancies/recalculations will be determined on a case-by-case basis by the acting available TO. Unruly or rude participants may be subject to having their pad recalculation requests denied.
Any recalculated steps will be recalculated to a Perfect judgment.
Note: If at any points you do something deemed unsportsmanlike, verbally/physically interfering with someone while playing a match, damage venue property, assault another person, or any other similar malicious behavior, you will be immediately disqualified from the tournament and subject to ejection from the venue at the discretion of event staff.
No substances (i.e. baby powder) are to be applied directly on the pads other than cleaning solutions as needed.
- If you wish to use them, you may apply it to your shoes off the pad.
- You may request the pads to be cleaned by TO/staff at any time.
